Make Life Work for You

Make Life Work For You

At various times in our lives we take a snapshot of where we are, where we were and where we would like to be. Most of us aren't totally happy with the results. Sometimes we compare our situation to those of our friends or associates. That makes us ask, "Why can't I be where they are in their life and career? What am I doing wrong?"

If you're going to take some time for self-examination and compare your life to other people's, you should never allow that time to turn into a self-condemnation session. Sure, we would all like to be doing better then we are, but everyone is different. You might be surprised to find out that some of the people you have decided to compare yourself with are not as happy or fulfilled as you think.

During my late teens and early twenties, I spent a lot of time with a guy I'll call Jimmy. He played guitar and I liked fooling around with the drums, so we ended up as close friends. When we first met in a group of people, he seemed somewhat distant and troubled. Having been where he was, I understood that living in New York City and being a teenager was a lot of pressure for anyone to deal with. We spent a lot of time playing music and talking. Being a couple of years older then Jim, he tended to listen to some of my advice. After we had known each other for awhile, Jimmy told me that he had been contemplating suicide and meeting me had probably saved his life.

While we were close friends, our fortunes changed. He started college, moved to Long Island and got engaged. During the same time, I had invested myself and all I had into what I had hoped would become an opportunity for me, only to find myself totally betrayed and all my hopes dashed. This resulted in some bad decision making on my part, which left me without friends or what I believed was much of a future. So I moved to another part of New York City and took a job as a Church Cleaner.

During the time I worked at that Church, I met some new friends. Although the Church I worked for was one that I didn't worship at, I found myself in a position to work with and help teens that were getting into trouble there. Although I can never say that the time I spent cleaning that Church was financially profitable, it was a growth experience that gave me the opportunity to share myself with others and help a lot of people. That's something that no one can place a price tag on.

It was Jimmy's goal to be a professional musician. He never attained that goal to the extent that he would have liked. His parents were intent on him becoming a professional in a more stable field, a doctor or lawyer. He did become a lawyer and as I look at him today, I sometimes get jealous. Not because he's a lawyer, but because I would have liked to have had supportive parents. His parents made everything Jimmy has possible for him. Since we haven't spoken for many years, I do not know how happy or unhappy he is. I know of his situation, but not how he feels about it. What I do know is that he probably wouldn't be here at all if we hadn't met. Rather then fret over all the advantages that Jimmy had over me, I can rejoice over the fact that I was able to help someone to go on and not give up!

Before you decide to have a personal pity party over where you are as compared to friends, relatives or co-workers, stop and take stock of some of the good things that you've done. Things that have nothing to do with money or status. And if you're still not satisfied, then it's time to get out and lend a hand to someone. Volunteer at a hospital or blood bank. Donate your time to a church, synagogue, mosque or whatever religion you choose to follow. Use your experiences to empower and encourage those down on their luck. It's never too late to start doing good. And it's likely that good will come back to you.

During the time I was having a lot of problems, Jimmy was too busy and self-involved to help me. Maybe he was angry because of some of the bad decisions I had made and I fully understand that. But help did come. I had given help and it returned to me when I needed it. Looking at things in the present can distort our view of our own situation and sometimes make us feel badly. Where you are now, might be exactly where you should be, even if it doesn't seem that way.

The Protein Diet In Your Kitchen
By: Marilyn Diamond
Guest Writer
The Protein Revolution in Your Kitchen©2003 Marilyn Diamond

Protein, protein, protein.

Who isn’t focused on protein? If you’re like me, I’m sure you spend at least a few minutes
everyday making sure you’re getting your protein.

There’s a protein revolution going on today. You really ought to know about it. It’s happening in the chic restaurants on the beach in Santa Monica, California, where diet revolutions take birth. Hollywood stars with the prettiest skin and most slender, taut-muscled bodies are into it. Celebrity chefs are racing to master it. And web commerce businesses that push it are thriving.

It’s the rage in Boston, the buzz in Miami.

It’s spreading like wildfire from in San Diego to Wichita to Philadelphia, PA.

You may as well jump on the bandwagon. It’s going to overtake everything else
in the diet world in the months and years to come. Why wait?

Why not be the first in your group to look like you just came from one of those $25,000 health spa experiences that took twenty-five pounds and twenty-five years off your life?

If you’re like me, you want to see some serious rejuvenation when you look in the mirror. But you’re not interested in Botox, chemical peels, micro-dermabrasion, lypo-suction, jaw and cheek implants and all the other pricey, temporary “solutions.”

If you’re worn out from the struggle to lose those annoying bulges, this is your kind of revolution. If you want to go to the jean size you wore when you know you looked your best, now’s the time. You can do it so fast you won’t believe your eyes.

It’s not a fad, really. Before we had fire, we knew the value of sprouting grains, legumes and seeds. We knew instinctively that Nature had created them as potent nutritional bundles of health and energy. Without science at our disposal to tell us what we needed, we automatically germinated and sprouted these concentrated natural sources of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids.

Hung up on protein?

Amino acids are proteins in their most digestible form. Pound for pound, lentils and other sprouted beans give you as much protein as red meat, chicken or fish, with none of the fat, cholesterol, hormones, anti-biotics, and dangerous rendered feed residues found in animal proteins today.

Not to mention the cost.

The lentils and other beans you sprout in your kitchen cost just pennies per pound. Think about this the next time you pull out your wallet for a slender package of skinless, boneless chicken breasts or fish fillets.

Just this month, try something different. Grow fresh protein in your kitchen.

Simply purchase a pound of red or green lentils or mung beans. You’ll find them in packages in your supermarket or in bulk in your favorite natural food store.

Soak about a cup of lentils or mung beans overnight in a covered container. Drain them in your colander and rinse them well to be sure you washed off all the natural inhibitors that keep them from sprouting until you need them to sprout. Now leave them right in the colander, on your kitchen counter, spreading them out a little so they don’t clump together.

And watch what happens.

In only a few hours to just about a day, lentils and mung beans will start to grow little tails. As they begin to sprout, rinse them occasionally, and you’ll see a miniature, kitchen garden of tiny, power-packed, living plants. When the tails are just barely visible, place the sprouts in an airtight container and store them in your fridge. They’ll continue to sprout more slowly.

If rejuvenating weight loss is your goal, this is the clean, fat-free, practically instantly-absorbed protein you want for a beautiful body.

Now once, or twice a day, if you’re motivated, add your sprouts to your salad. I say twice a day, because, like me, you may love this revolutionary high-protein, power-packed meal so much, you’ll occasionally want it that often.

Not only for the slenderizing protein, but also for the abundance of vitamins and minerals, in readily available, economical form.

Here’s how I make my REVOLUTIONARY HIGH PROTEIN SALAD:

I mix my dressing directly into a large salad bowl. I use twice as much good quality olive oil as lemon juice, and add some sea salt, whisking this mixture into a smooth, creamy slenderizing dressing.

Now I add plenty of ripe, sliced tomatoes and some chopped basil, mint and thyme. The tomatoes and herbs macerate while I prepare the rest of the salad. I chop my favorite greens: baby spinach, mesclun, baby lettuces, romaine, butter or Boston lettuce finely, so they absorb lots of the dressing. I thin-slice unpeeled cucumbers and radishes. They add the silicon and sulfur I need for healthy hair, skin and nails. Sometimes, I toss in lots of oil cured olives, high in protein and fatty acids, and low in salt.

Time to add the sprouts from my kitchen harvest, about ½ to one cup per person.

Then I toss and toss to insure my REVOLUTIONARY HIGH PROTEIN SALAD is really well blended and combined. I serve yourself an ample portion, and eat it slowly, chewing well to appreciate the textures and flavors of living protein for my living body.

Are you sick and tired of how the years take their toll on your health? Are you bored and frustrated with all the confusing and contradictory diet fads and trends? Would you enjoy having so much energy you practically never run out? How about having the confidence to know each time you sit down to the dinner table that you’re preventing, rather than causing disease? How would you like to watch the pounds and decades literally melt from your body?

You can do it. Thousands of people are already experiencing these results and benefits. The revolution is happening all around you.

Why wait to be a part of this growing trend?

 Color Cures
A Feng Shui Series
By: Kalyn

When we sense that a room lacks good Feng Shui, we know that we need to change something.
One of the easiest ways to change the energy of a room is by changing its colors. A color change can be simple to do because we know what colors we like and we can sense how a significant color change will affect our space. Re-painting just one wall in a room, for example, is a significant change that will create an energetic shift. When we aim to shift energy through color, we need to determine what we need to change and then we need to consider the different ways colors work. In this three-part series, we look at how colors can change the vibration, mood and the element of a space, starting with the yin and yang vibration.
Energy can be yin or yang depending on its flow. Ying energy is a restful and calm energy that vibrates quietly. Yin energy is preferred in bedrooms and dens. It is required for a good night's sleep and in rooms that tend to be private. Yin energy is sometimes mistaken as being energy to avoid. It is thought of as death energy (since yin energy is sought after in grave yards) or dark. However, yin energy is inner-world energy. It is conducive to spending time in our inner world with our hopes, dreams and desires- it is also the energy we seek for meditation.
Yang energy is a more active energy. Feng Shui prefers to see yang energy in a living room, dining room, kitchen or a home office. Yang energy is needed to keep active energy in our finances and to keep good relationships with friends and family in our entertainment or “public” rooms. When we add yang energy into an office, for example, we attract more activity in the forms of finances, relations and reputation.
When a space's energy doesn't match the energy of the activities it is used for, inauspicious energy conflicts occur. For example, a living room or business office that are too yin will have a challenging time appealing to visitors and visitors that are present won't stay long. Similarly, a bedroom or a back door that are too yang, or too active, will create a sense of caution which will keep occupants from fully resting and relaxing.
Choosing the right colors can help create the appropriate yin or yang energy needed. Active colors like red, orange and other bright shades hold yang energy and by painting a wall or adding yang- colored furniture, we can liven up a yin office. A yang space can be soothed and quieted with calm colors, such as mellow shades like violet, rose, and blue.
Of course, deciding whether a room should be yin or yang isn’t black and white. Some spaces, such as offices, benefit from being very active – on the other hand, that much motion and movement might be too much in our living room!
Decide how active or calm you need your spaces to be. Be sure to match the activity of your space with the energy you are creating so that your activities and the room’s energy match. Then make these changes through color!

Love & Light,

Kalyn

Feng Shui Abundance Tip:

In Feng Shui we work with energy, shifting and changing it to enhance its effect on us and our lives. This is primarily done using universal laws of energy.

However, you don't have to be an expert to work with energy and to attract abundance into your life!
Try this simple tip: if you wish to attract more money, do this by acting as though you have money! Always keep money on you (even if it is small amounts) - Don't run out of cash!

Do you wish to enjoy a life of abundance? Sure, it sounds great, and you think that it is too good to be true! It is not too good- it takes work on your part!

If you are willing to open to life, to change some behaviors and to learn how to how to attract abundance into your life, then try the Manifesting Abundance Series! The series was created for students who wanted to experience more abundance in their lives, and they are! The Manifesting Abundance Series includes two CD processes to help you bring the energy of abundance in, and an Abundance Workbook, an 8 week workbook with daily exercises and behaviors to help you know what abundance really is.

You won't know abundance until you breath it, feel it and think it-
and the quickest way to learn these is through the Abundance Series!

How to build up your own Creative Power

by Fernando Soave

Here are some ways that have been found helpful to build the creative power of creative thinkers throughout the centuries.

1. Associate with children in some of your spare time. Children will give you a new way of looking at things because they take nothing for granted. Every problem they give you from "Why the sky is blue" to "why can't pens have erasers, just like pencils ?" will give you practice in exercising your imagination. If you have children of your own, play with them. Listen to their conversation.

2. Watch for deficiencies in everything that need remedying. The ability to see what needs to be done is the first step in finding solutions for a particular problem.

3. Expose yourself to new sights and sounds. Travel to strange places in your town. Try new restaurants. Travel to a new place on your vacation. We don't see too clearly what's closely by. No matter how many acres of diamonds there are around you in the shape of fruitful ideas, you I'll probably have fresher thoughts if you go to a new place in town, or on a vacation to a strange town.

4. Always define and narrow your problem as much as you can. If you break down a problem into many small specific component parts, it is easier to solve each small problem to arrive at the solution to the one big problem.

5. Gather facts about your problem. Gathering facts sometimes uncovers the solution. We want the mind to go off on strange, new paths. But it won't if we smother it with too many facts about conventional ways of doing things.

Abundance In All Things!

Abundance is an essence that exists in infinite supply in the universe. Abundance can take on various forms such as an abundance of love, money, happiness, joy, success, and so on. Generally, we know what abundance is, but bringing abundance into our daily life alludes many of us.

Manifesting Abundance uses the two spiritual laws, "as above so below," and "as within so without." Many have heard of these laws but are not certain how to put these laws into effect. To put the law into motion you must first be able to access spiritual essences that exist in unlimited supply on the levels beyond physicality. Then you must align the structured self to this essence, bringing the essence fully into your inner world. When your inner world is completely aligned to the essence, in this case abundance, it must manifest in your outer world. It is the law..

Testimonial: "I really enjoyed it.  What I noticed about myself is that I would grasp at making an altar for my bills, and come to appreciate them and look at them as symbolic,  but also I repel actually taking the time to work with self and energy first. " -T.B.
